Top 10 Tips when working with LED strip

How to define a good quality strips by yourself?&How to use the LED strips properly?

1) If it feels really flimsy, bends very very easily it is probably single core PCB and will not last very long.

2) look at the LEDS (When off) and if the solder points look clean, consistent and the diodes straight then that is a good start.

3) Try not to flex to much solder points, when these are produced they are made in sections and soldered together to make a "reel".

4) NEVER and we say NEVER buy Mains 240V LED strip to use in accesable locations, one cut of the cores and electrocution could occur. Most LED strips are SELV (Safety Extra Low Voltage) so look for 24VDC.

5) If your doing Coving with LED strip Lay the strip out first on the floor, Light it and run an eye over the consistency of Diode temperatures. Nothing worse that off colours, or varying power of diodes. On RGB lay the strip out and ensure the sequencing is not interrupted.

6) If you wish to Join sections of strip consult a qualified company, pre packaged "kits" are often cheap for a reason but for perfect solutions ask for pre joined goods.

7) Test before you apply: It is easy to test a strip works before you place in site, most LED strips are made in series of three diodes so if one fails three will not light.

8) Check the IP grade and discuss with the manufacturer the properties before using in ponds/externally.

9) Work with companies that add a name to the LED strip, it shows it is quality and they are willing to add a name to the product.

10) If you use multi zone systems ensure you use them to the maximum portetial. They have multiple zones from one remote.
